Community-Led Sanitation Projects Transform Village Life
Sanitation infrastructure is often overlooked in development planning, yet its impact on public health is profound. Open defecation, contaminated water sources, and inadequate waste management contribute to the spread of cholera, typhoid, and other preventable diseases.
Our community-led total sanitation approach empowers villages to assess their own sanitation needs, design solutions, and build infrastructure with technical support from CGHSR engineers. This model fosters ownership and ensures long-term maintenance of facilities.
In 2025, we completed sanitation projects in 8 villages, constructing 120 household latrines, 6 community water treatment stations, and drainage systems serving 3,000 residents. Follow-up health assessments show a 40% reduction in waterborne illness in these communities.
