Addressing Gender-Based Violence Through Community Education Programs
Gender-based violence is both a public health crisis and a human rights violation. It affects millions of women and girls worldwide, with devastating consequences for individuals, families, and communities. While response services are critical, lasting change requires prevention through education and cultural transformation.
CGHSR's community education programs take a holistic approach to GBV prevention. We facilitate workshops in schools, religious institutions, and community centers that challenge harmful gender norms, teach conflict resolution skills, and promote healthy relationships. Crucially, our programs engage men and boys as allies in the fight against GBV.
Evaluation data from our pilot programs shows promising results. Communities that completed our 12-week curriculum reported a 35% increase in knowledge of GBV warning signs, a 28% improvement in attitudes toward gender equality, and a measurable increase in reporting of incidents to authorities.
