Across West Africa, women have historically been excluded from decision-making roles in their communities. Cultural norms, limited access to education, and economic dependence have created barriers that prevent women from participating fully in governance and leadership.

CGHSR's Women in Leadership program tackles these barriers through a multi-pronged approach. We partner with traditional leaders to shift cultural attitudes, provide leadership training workshops, and create mentorship networks connecting aspiring female leaders with established role models.

Over the past two years, graduates of our program have won seats on 18 local councils, started 12 community cooperatives, and launched advocacy campaigns that led to policy changes in three states. Their success demonstrates that when women lead, entire communities thrive.
